Turf Solutions Group Announces Completion of Turf Replacement for Soccerworld, Springfield, Illinois’s Indoor Soccer Facility

New Turf Provides Increased Safety for Soccer Players

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS — (March 14, 2011) - Turf Solutions Group (TSG), leaders in recreational land design and development, recently replaced the soccer playing surface for Soccerworld of Springfield, Illinois. The 16,750 square foot installation utilized a newly developed synthetic turf product branded "TSG Supreme".

Jason Payne, TSG’s Managing Partner, stated, "Playing surfaces for indoor soccer facilities have evolved from what previously resembled indoor-outdoor carpet. This new turf is the most durable turf in the industry. Its low-profile good looks are deceiving." Payne described the company's new product, TSG Supreme, as synthetic turf with a 1/4 inch urethane foam padding and a mix of long turf fibers as well as a short, 'thatch-like' under filament. "As a result of its unique construction", he said, "this turf is an especially good choice for soccer fields. It provides greater cushion and therefore, greater safety for the soccer player."

Father and son owners Harold and Pete Christofilakos are delighted with the new surface. "Everyone is happy with the playing surface", said Pete, a former placekicker who played both football and soccer at the University of Illinois. "The previous playing surface was similar to thin carpet on top of concrete and that is what it felt like. Our new playing surface feels more like you are playing outside on real grass. It is longer and yet provides a lot of cushion — it is a lot easier on our player's knees."

The Soccerworld owners were referred to TSG by a former TSG client, David Impastato, the owner of Piper Glen Golf Club in Springfield. After meeting with John Ehrgott, TSG Project Manager, the Christofilakos chose TSG for the job. They liked TSG’s straightforward approach and high-quality product. "Turf Solutions Group did everything they could to make certain that our installation went well," said Pete Chistofilakos. "Issues were immediately dealt with. TSG came to this project with a ‘do whatever it takes’ attitude. We were very happy with the process."
